A
very simple machine, very easy to use, but essential to
vestibular rehabilitation.
This stimulator is made up of a reflective faceted ball
enlightened by a light source with adjustable intensity
and accuracy thus allowing us to vary the area of the
patches which are reflected.
This ball can move around both axes of rotation in order
to enlighten the whole machine according to the 3 planes
: the entiere visual display unit is thus scanned.
Each of the 2 axes is driven by a very quiet electronic
motor to avoid the patient's focusing his attention on
the light source.
Those motors can work either in one way or another with
adjustable speed. We can also combine the movement of
both axes. Motor and light source can be operated by remote
control. |

The visual distortion is
a power unit and ocular reaction to the shifting of the
whole visual field. This reaction is a visual distortion
whose slow stage is in direction of the stimulus and quick
one is opposite to the shifting.
The optokinetic stimulation interferes with the VOR (Vestibular
Ocular Reflex) by means of visual distortion, which in
turn may confound postural control and the vestibular
spinal reflex. The velocity and direction of this optokinetic
nystagmus can be adjusted, changing the direction and
speed while the ball is in rotation.
This optokinetic stimulation allows us to detect visual dependency
(in populous environment, transportation ills…) but also to cure balance disorders
(like vestibular function sleeping), and strengthen balance function. Moreover,
if the Stimulopt is coupled with the Multitest Platform (BalanceQuest) the detection
and cure of the disorder can be quantified.
This product is utilized by everybody working on balance disorders, like physiotherapists,
ENTs, audiologists, neurologist… |

SPECIAL CYCLES
Cycle 0:
Manual Mode (Ball and Z axis speed/direction).
Cycle 1:
Same as Cycle 0, but ball direction changes every X seconds
(set by user between 1 and 59 seconds).
Cycle 2:
Same as Cycle 1, but timing of direction change is randomly defined.
Cycle 3:
Speed is randomly defined. No direction change.
Cycle 4:
Speed is randomly defined. Direction changes randomly |
